Mahjong Open Play - Slurp Society - Tues, August 11th - 6pm-8pm

Join us for a free mahjong open play event at Slurp Society downtown. We'll be playing in the private "little dragon" room adjacent to the restaurant where we can order off the "light bites" menu. If you'd like to have a full dinner and order off the main menu, feel free to arrive early around 5pm and enjoy dinner in the main dining room. --What if I've never played mahjong before? If you have never played mahjong before, let me help you find an upcoming mahjong 101 class so you can begin joining our free open play events. Private message Rachel Helton for help. --I'm a beginner and still require guidance while I play. Should I come? Open plays are best for players who can play independently without guidance. I recommend you join a "guided" play event first before coming to an open play. Send a private message to Rachel Helton for help finding a guided play event. --Do I need to bring mahjong supplies? Bring your NMJL card and a small side table for your drinks/food. You can purchase a small side table at "5 below" for $6, or find a small folding table on Amazon. We typically crowd source supplies and have more than enough sets of tiles and cards for everyone. Don't worry if you don't have any mahjong supplies. --Anything else I should know? The owner of Slurp Society is graciously letting us reserve space in the restaurant shop at no charge, so let's reciprocate their graciousness by ordering drinks and/or food while we play.
